A Homeboy's Life: A Homeboy's Life - Dear (un)interested reader, we’ve been receiving...

also, sucks that those guests arent doing guest vox on the new album, mark hoppus+patrick. damn. think about it for next time, okay? haha
  • anneatthedisco · 1 year ago
    That'd be beyond rad.

And Pete, I see why you support Obama.
He made some great points, especially in comparison to McCain.
If I were old enough to vote, it'd be for Obama.
  • Cara · 1 year ago
I don't know much about Luke Chueh, in fact your album is the first work i've seen of his (i think, though i vaguely recall you putting up another one of his works a while ago) but when i saw the front cover i immediately thought how cute and weird and wtf. If first impressions are anything to go by (as well as the pic you posted on this entry) i think he's a great artist and well worthy of the Folie a Deux album cover ^_^

I loved the video, i think it's one of the absolute best i've ever and you totally had me going, i had no idea till you pulled the mask of (by the way best in-joke smile ever, don't know why it just looked like a huge in-joke grin to me). I'd say what i love about it but it seems to me everyones covered all the great things about it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Joe turing into gabe bit though joe was like 'oh yeah, you want a peice of this?!" then tore the mask off and gabe was just a psycho. it was brilliant! XD Gutsy effort satirizing Sarah Palin by the way.

Despite being in Aus (i can't believe it's been a year since i saw you guys live in melbourne, did you get my letter? I drew you like manga characters on the front) i did see the debate. Pity i can't do anything about this election. I can't really comment much on the debate because a lot of the events they talked about i hadn't heard about before. I do believe Obama's plans and the steps he said he'd take seemed very crucial to improving the state of America right now. Beyond that, i'm simply not educated enough on the subject of politics to talk about it without sounding like an idiot.

Everyone has crappy weeks pete so we understand how you feel. Why wouldn't we take it easy on you and encourage you to get back on your awesomely supra'd feet? Go boldly Pete, go boldly (like i need to tell you that) we're behind you all the way.
  • cortney · 1 year ago
i really like the cover art. it seems deeper to me than just the black and white rabbit... but maybe thats just me...

about the debate: not really anything that i hadnt already known about. mccain kinda avoided looking at obama and for a second there i thought mccain was gonna lose his temper. (as i was hoping:D)

    ---cortney---
  • A. · 1 year ago
yeah i noticed the exact same thing. like he was getting really pissed off, not letting obama clarify himself so he could try to dissect words.
but obama was totally composed, and mad mccain look bad, like he was smiling the whole time:)
i hope he wins. even though i dont live in the states, they have so much power over the world.
i care more about american ellections than canadian. haha.

    pete, check this dude
    www.myspace.com/secondmeasure
i actually emailed you about us.

i hope your week goes better man. we all have our ups and downs.
  • killerQUEEN · 1 year ago
I thought the debate was somewhat lacking. They ended in a stalemate when there are so many points obama could have attacked mccain on. They're both definately qualified candidates, even if they have opposite beliefs. On the otherhand, the upcoming vice presidential debate should be totally one sided.
My friend forwarded me some email titled "I'm voting democrat because..." that was full of a load of crap, which was basically telling me what i believe and getting everything wrong. One was along the lines of "im voting democrat because i believe we should be able to marry whatever we want. ive decided to marry my horse." Were ACTUALLY democratic because we believe people are entitled to their right to be happy and that our country should be concerned about the economy or war rather than who people want to marry. It's also basically implying that gays arent any better than animals which is totally false and completely ignorant.
I accept that people have different beliefs but I'm not going to send someone an email full of crap about their political party just to tick them off.

i really dig his art - i think the album cover is rad.

and omg i want to see a midtown show, on the moon or anywhere.

oh, and i'm sorry about your shitty week, sweetie. damn the man, save the empire! or something like that. <3

the cover art is amazing. you guys did a great job on commissioning luke to create it for the album.
i'm sorry you were having a bad week, as completely fangirlish as that sounds.
have a doughnut, give your wife a kiss, and do something that makes you happy.

I think the cover is perfectly adorable
  • ynattirbtsudrats · 1 year ago
about the question of the day: The debate didn't really clear much up; it showed that Obama still makes way more sense than McCain. McCain kept saying something like, "what Obama doesn't seem to understand".... which was pretty funny, because McCain's the one who doesn't understand. The debate between the two vice pres. candidates should be interesting this Thursday though....
The art is too amazing for words.
  • Maureen · 1 year ago
    thank you

  • mariola · 1 year ago
i love the cover, it's the best one indeed. it's creative and fun, and it doesn't follow the norms. just like you guys.
luke chueu's site is going to my faves.

i'm sorry about your shitty week, i'm sure it'll get better. simple things make complicated men happy, just relax and don't stress out. i'm sure everything will be alright.

looking to seeing you in barcelona.
  • MISFITSandMAYHEM · 1 year ago
i must admit. that K.O. made my day.
as did the rest of the vidoe.
    the cover art is sick.
    kudos to chueh.
oh, and thank you for crushing yet another dream pete.
you really cant just let us thing that one day we'll get to see a midtown show on the moon with Blink up next?
    dream crusher. haha.
p.s. you make a good nun.

I've always like album covers that don't have the band members on it. The album art should be just that, Art. Not the band's picture and that's it. I like the cover and Chueh's art. It's very interesting.
  • karen kupkake · 1 year ago
hope this coming week turns out better, dude. sincerely.

i like the cover art, honestly, just because it's clean and not as busy as previous albums. it gives the impression that you guys are mature (obviously you're really good actors, we all know the truth guys) and your music has matured too - that part is true, as far as i can tell.

    peace.
  • karen kupkake · 1 year ago
by the way - i finally got the whoopie cushion widget because pete wentz told me to. don't regret it at all.
    thanks.

i hope next week will better ,
i still love you guys whatever happns
  • dancepunkemo · 1 year ago
aaaw, pete, i think the cover is lovely! and btw lol, i hope the dying in a van on the way to the show rap is on the record.
  • Alexis · 1 year ago
"this would be like watching a midtown reunion on the moon while high fiving mark hoppus because Blink would be playing next."
That would blow my mind (even a little bit more than having han solo). I will definitely be checking out the artwork.

I can't wait for the record to come out, man. It's gonna make the day better considering I can't vote (one goddamn year). However, I DID watch the debate. I thought it was interesting, not a big fan of the guy playing ref. What'd you think of it?

I hope next week is better for you, Pete.
  • Tami · 1 year ago
I haven't quite deciding on liking the cover or not. I like how it makes me think and understand it, the way it fits with the title. But, at first, it kind of annoyed me for not being very... FallOutBoy-ish. But now I know why. And again, at first I wasn't very fond of the idea of the band not being involved in the cover, but I just kind of accidentally fell in love with this guy's art. All, on the website, amazing. So now I guess I love the cover.
A better week for you, Pete.
So are we ever going to see the proper version of the video? (Sorry, this is bugging me.)
  • KPTRON · 1 year ago
I thought the debate was intense but Obama did the best.

And I LOVE your cover for the new album. Ignore what the haters say. He's a great artist and sometimes the simplest album covers are the best.

I hope this week is better for you. Take care.

  • Grace · 1 year ago
I actually like the cover. I don't know, it looks really professional or something. not too busy.

the debate was good. I'm excited to see Biden and Palin.

oh man if Obama doesn't win this...I don't know what to think of America...
  • Deidre · 1 year ago
    aw pete
im sorry you had a crappy week. i sort of did too. so i guess that's one thing we can share.
i like the art? its interesting.
and you're not a douche bag. stop saying that. now spencer however...is.
as for the debate...meh debate shemate. the whole thing was a major fail. im just so confused on everything to be honest. which is a scary place to be in when you're 19 and can vote.

anyways.....Discouragement in life is inevitable...but DEFEAT is optional.

  • Virginia · 1 year ago
The debate was... well, it wasn't really a good one, was it? Obama and McCain were on two completely different tracks, which made it impossible for either to properly respond to anything the other was saying. Obama is the less experienced of the two when it comes to the debate format and what people want to hear, but Obama still manages to come off as the more intelligent of the two.

I thought the most interesting part was when McCaine compared Obama's stubborness on some issues to Bush's stubborness, and called him on it like it was a bad thing. I'm not sure it's smart of him to support someone for as many years as McCaine's supported Bush, and then to turn around and compare your opponent to him and use it as a negative point.
  • SuperJade · 1 year ago
    sorry about your week, pete.
    hope you feel better.

i couldn't be happier that luke chueh did the cover art, i think he is an outstanding artist.
the debate was painful to watch. grown men trying to rip each other apart with words never fancied me.
everyone has their off weeks, you'll bounce back.

    pete,
i like the like the cover art. at least you didnt just use some weird over posed photo of yourselves like so many other artists do. i already liked luke chueh before though so i guess im biased lol.
i hope next week goes better for you, ive had a shitty week too. like double shitty ,i'm coming to l.a next summer though, maybe i'll see you. i'll be the english girl who no one can understand lmao.

ive exhausted my fingers talking about the debate, so ill just say obama won.
  • caroline · 1 year ago
I love the cover art for the new album. When I saw it it made me want to high five the artist and say to him, "Dude, you rock."
I saw the end of the debate and I wanted to punch Mccain in the face, but then again I have to respect my elders. I thought Obama handled the whole thing pretty well and once again he's inspired me.
Hope next week is easier on you, I know I could use an easier week too.

Sorry to hear your week was crappy. :/ Next week is a new page though, and hopefully it'll turn out to be better. :)

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself, you being knocked out in a video isn't something I liked...in my opinion. :)

The debate was alright, I'm not a politically involved person...so I wouldn't know.

I love your long winded entries, they're fun to read, doesn't matter what the topic.
    I love that guy's artwork, it's awesome.
    And I didn't watch the debate and I don't really know why I didn't? I should have, but I failed. :(
I'm sorry to hear about your crappy week. My week kind of sucked too, had to get a tooth pulled and that blew!! :( But I'm all better now. And I hope next week is better for you, Pete. <3

I think you guys chose an amazing artist for the cover and i love how it came out, it makes me excited for the new website layout

The debate was actually fairly interesting although I didn't get a chance to see if they discussed Darfur because I was extremely tired and worn out from writing this story. I'm neither a democrat or a republican, but I can fairly say that it was right for Obama to win the polls on the debate. He knows his stuff, but I have to admit, his choice in VP wasn't so great. I like the way the both of them tackled the issues in the middle east and the little lol brought by the moderator or whatever of the debate telling Barack to tell McCain what he had to say to his face.
    I enjoyed the debate.

I hope your week gets better.

    God bless,
    Jenoris
  • LickLickSalute · 1 year ago
You're not a douche, Pete. Spencer Pratt... maybe so :p
I hope whatever personal stuff you were dealing with gets resolved & all is good in Wentz World.

As for guests on the album... I'm mainly curious about whether Brendon is just playing keyboard or singing too. Because I've heard both things so far... Either way, I love that kid so I'm excited about that xD

Oh and I really like the album cover, by the way.

Edit: About the debate, it hasn't aired yet here. From what I've been reading on Beckett's blog, it almost sounds like everyone was a different debate. Some say McCain was constantly on the defense, others say Obama was. Some say Obama was constantly interrupting McCain, some people say it was the other way around.
I don't know what to believe! But I'm certainly on Obama's side for most of the issues & hoping America will elect him.

my week was crapy the only thing that made it less crapy was my birthday and still trying to work on something things i got going on with my fashion.
  • Billy · 1 year ago
Well, thank you very much for explaining the concept of the cover, it's always good when it comes from the horse's mouth (and no, your face does not look like a horse, it's only an expression :D), however, I found that the two "teddybears" (or two people dressed like teddybears, hehe) represent very good the expression in French (yes, I'm a nerd, I do speak French too...) Folie a Deux, that basically says "party of two" or "madness of two", I found the cover simple and expressive, I liked, the less, is better.

About the " debate": … well, I would love to give my opinion, but I didn't see. I'm in Brazil,so it didn't pass here in any channel, so it's pretty difficult to say something about it. Sorry! : /

And about your " ps": … you are famous, very talented, bassplayer of a superfamous superband and blábláblá, but you're a human being too, you have bad days, difficult weeks and etc., so don't worry, dude, 'coz we will never forget to see the "Pete-Human" first, and "Pete-Famous" in second...

    Or third... :D
  • Dorotea · 1 year ago

  • icedmaple · 1 year ago
I don't have a problem with the cover art. I don't even have a problem with you being the only apparent one to appear on it (if he was going to portray anyone on the cover, you clearly make the most sense), but I was VERY bothered at the prospect of the album becoming a mess of guest appearances - so I'm glad that's been debunked and I hope 'currently' means 'and it'll stay that way'. It would have been ironic for you to be on the cover and then virtually everyone else being on the record.

I love you guys as a band because I love the music the four of you make together - when all of you are fully involved in some area - for me personally, adding appearances all over the place detracts from that. Justin's cameo worked. I wholly approve of that kind of input. But you guys don't NEED anyone else on the album. Most of us are here because of those four awkward punk kids, still, even if those kids have grown up.

I hope you won't lose sight of that.
  • gone_beyond_repair · 1 year ago
I checked out the guy's artwork - and the face he used on the original is the same one he has used before. so i think it's supposed to be the artist, or just a face he uses over and over again to represent a man.
  • icedmaple · 1 year ago
Might be the case - but the general assumption in bandom is that it's intended to be Pete because it looks quite a lot like him.

I think, to be fair, that it could have had a pink mohawk and a green face and the assumption in bandom would still have been that it was Pete...

(I did include the word 'apparent' because no one's quite sure, though. ; P)

the cover art makes sense in every way, so idg why people would be ragging on it.

btw, i am french, and i know you have probably heard this a lot but omg i really really want to hear all of you pronounce folie a deux correctly. as lol as it is hearing it said so many different ways, i am jw if you actually know...?

thanks for introducing me to luke chueh. anddd, since i am commenting on something you've written for the first time ever i may as well go out on a limb and tell you about this: http://www.freeplayfoundation.org/index.html

foh - lee ah (um i get really stumped on how to type out the spelling for this but it's like) deh only the deh part is not so flat and sounds more like a 'uh'

    lol french

and thanks for the reassurance :)
  • icedmaple · 1 year ago
I'd liken it to a shortened version of the word "dew". I think that's the closest description I've been able to find in order to articulate it through text.
  • dakote · 1 year ago
It's actually more of a "dur", as I understand it.
  • icedmaple · 1 year ago
My ex-housemate was from the south of France, and she'd always say it more like the shortened 'dew' (she talked to our cat in French), without the strong 'w' at the end. I think the thing to also take into account is that when we write things we're also thinking of those words as we would pronounce them in our own accents, if you see what I mean.

There's already the tomayto/tomahto element which stiffs it further. When I say the word 'dew' it probably sounds like a 'j' rather than a 'd', so it's like 'joo', where as others would pronounce it more in the region of 'dyoo'.

I definitely wouldn't go with 'dur', because where I come from the 'u' sound would be long.
  • birdzies · 1 year ago
there's accents to take into account, but the general pronounciation of deux is nothing like dew...if she was from the south of france, my understanding is that they've a tendency to pronounce more phonetically than others.
  • icedmaple · 1 year ago
Perhaps that's it - or perhaps I'm just not explaining it the way I'm thinking it...

I did get an 'A' in my French Speaking GCSE as well, so I am familiar with the language to an extent, although I'm by no means fluent.

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=T3nx1xlg19I

well just to clarify my point, there's my pronunciation -- the number two, deux.
  • icedmaple · 1 year ago
Ah, right. That sounds like the French equivalent of BBC English. A very clear, received pronunciation. The pronunciation I'm going for is more of a colloquial way of speaking, I think. That's the only reason I can think of for the differences.

    It's really hard to articulate.
  • birdzies · 1 year ago
seriously, i think it's the parisien way mostly.

slang will always be the way to go, haha.
  • icedmaple · 1 year ago
I'll stick with Folie/Folly a Douche... at least it's still French! Hahaha.
  • dakote · 1 year ago
I think it is what it is, and different regions would have different accents. My french prof. would say "fully-a-der" and the biggest point is, most of us aren't french. so to quote Luda, "Why the fuck would y'all name your album some shit people can't even pronounce?" and doesn't that make it more fun?
  • icedmaple · 1 year ago
Hahaha. I have a tendency to call it Folly a Douche, because it sounds mildly fruity.
  • dakote · 1 year ago
I think that should be the official FOB fan pronounciation.
  • gone_beyond_repair · 1 year ago
i thought it was more of a "folay a doo".

but i don't know. i pretty much suck at french.
  • birdzies · 1 year ago
i know for sure it's not that, haha, especially the 'folay' part.
  • gone_beyond_repair · 1 year ago
    YESS!!!
    i found a video.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0_6T2ZL2IM&feat...

we are all saved from further pronouncing the title wrong.
  • birdzies · 1 year ago
    perfect!
  • hannah94 · 1 year ago
haha i wouldnt dare compete with someone from france but i know how to pronounce it correctly i just dont know how exactly to explain it...ive been in ballet for 11 years and i know how to say pas de deux so yeah lol
  • xxhavilandxx · 1 year ago
my sister is in french class and asked her teacher how to say it and she pronounced it
    'folay uh duh.'
  • gone_beyond_repair · 1 year ago
I'm going to ask my french teacher the same thing.

French teachers all over will be utterly confused as to why their students are suddenly interested in pronouncing folie a deux.
  • happyaggro · 1 year ago
The cover art...well, I'm not too sure what to think about it. I'm more interesting in getting PAST it for the disc with the tasty jams inside, so its a moot point. He is a great artist though.

...if that Midtown/blink 182 concert on the moon ever happens, can my good friend, Sonic the Hedgehog come? He heard that Mario was going to be in the pit, and you KNOW you wanna see that go down, dude. XD

"commenters thanks for taking it easy on me i had a crappy week for personal reasons. next week lets get back to usual."

How about...no. You deserve to have nice things said to you. Not all the time, admittedly, but a lot of times, yes.

And I know you're thinking that I'm dead wrong considering all the stuff you've been through and whatnot, but in your heart, you know I'm dead right on this subject, Wentz. DEAD. RIGHT.

You're LOVED, Pete Wentz. LOVED. <333

that picture makes me want to watch donny darko really really badly.
i can't wait until i move out of my parents house and i can actually buy artwork i like, instead of the frilly and cute pointless shit my mom buys for the house.
as for the debate? i got home yesterday and i slept for hours, so i missed it. i suck, i know :(

p.s. pete, it really freaks me out knowing that you read these comments. although i think it's kind of awesome too :)

I guess it turns out it's rare to find fans that trust their favorite band. Apparently there is also a group of people that won't be happy until you make "Saturday part 2 (Sunday)" or "The Music or the Misery remix feat. Hawthorne Heights".

There's also a group of people that appreciate the work you guys put into your music, and enjoy seeing your success as well as hearing what new thing you guys have come up with.

Besides, if someone really doesn't like "I Don't Care" they could just calm down and listen to "Dance, Dance" again.
  • gone_beyond_repair · 1 year ago
if the original artwork was the one with the red background, and the one bear (who is really a man) giving another bear a piggy-back ride, KEEP IT!

I like it a lot. It's something different than anything you've done, and anything i've seen.

i love how one bear is actually a man, and he's giving a bear a piggy-back ride, so it's like he shares the madness because he thinks he's a bear.

that's what i get when i see that.

and politics confuse me. i know, i know 'my generations the future of the country' but it's confusing. and i avoid confusing stuff. end of story.

actually I kinda thought the comments about the cover on absolutepunk were mainly positive so that's really something...cause we all know how people on absolutepunk love to make fun of stuff...

I've been into Luke Chueh for years so I can't say enough good words about your choice for the cover.

    ok gotta go now...

i personally loved the cover art. this artist makes my look like shit.... (http://www.fobxmcrxpatd.deviantart.com) but i didnt watch the debate... i dont like politics at alllll. religion and politics. my biggest pet peeves. and pants.
  • jake broido · 1 year ago
The debate was laughable, only because the economy wasnt the main speaking point. The country isn't worried about what is going on in Pakistan when shit is hitting the fan right here at home. And come on, giving Obama a topic where he virtually couldn't win gave him the chance to take open swings at McCain, while McCain had to maintain his lead on the issue. NAAAt chill!!!!

BTW seeing you and Spencer Pratt get knocked out at the same time was sseeeeeeriously funny and unnexpected. nice work. best video yet.

So, I just got this crazy fxckin idea.
I was just sitting here reading all
the comments of your "I like..." on
FOE, and out of no where, this
idea just came running up to me
and jumped into my ear, then
set up a little cozey home in my
brain, and wouldnt leave, so I
thought, whats any other way to
get rid of an idea that just wont
    leave?... TELL SOMEONE!
And whos better to tell than the
    person the idea was about.
    Mr. Peter Wentz himself. And
I might as well leave it here
because you SAY you read these
    comments.

    -Peter Wentz and Mitchel Davis-

Yeah thats right, im seeing an
    awesome fxcking colaberation
    right there. ooooh yeaaaah.

Who's Mitchel Davis? you might ask.
    Well, put it this way,

    www.youtube.com/livelavalive

Really, contact him. Its a brilliant idea,
    I must say so myself.

incase you had missed it the first 24782 times that mccain said it, he WASN'T voted ms. congeniality in the senate.

otherwise, i hope the next debate is a bit more exhilerating. i wanna see some metaphoric senatorial blood spill or something.

CNN had an audience reaction gauge. I think it was flawed though, because it seemed that anytime either candidate said anything, the independent line increased, and then the respective party rose as their specific candidate spoke. which is expected, but really? the republicans are getting excited just by mccain mentioning "well last year this happened"? come on....whatever.

Don't feel too bad I feel you on the crapy week. The cover is dope and artistic. As for the debate I watched and I was wondering if McCain was actually going to show at first. Obama was very Presidential Like, McCain was very disrespectful and cocky at times. I wanted to see what McCain was going to say about the Financial Crisis. Obama was ready to go McCain was beating around the bush. He didn't even want to have the debate. I didn't like the cheep shots he took at Obama. McCain Is someone who has said in the past himself he knows very little about the economy. Then now were going through this big Financial Crisis what the heck is he going to do. Keep the rich richer and the poor Poorer? I Like Obama he thinks for everyone one not just the Rich People. Obama is real he speaks for the people.

I love Luke's work. The people over at AP.net are brill, hahaha, hours of entertainment there.
I was up at 4am watching the debate on the news (being from the UK kinda sucks), and it's kind of sad to see how little some of the people in the UK care about the US president - of course it effects them, some people have no idea. I thought Obama was precise and strong with his answers, he's so eloquent too. He can certainly talk. However, at the same time it was pretty mediocre, but at the very least Obama addressed the questions instead of dancing around them...

I don't know why people are tripping about the artwork. It's your album. Do whatever you want.

The debate made me want to gouge my ears out. McCain drives me nuts. The only time I can stand to hear him talk is when the Daily Show or the Colbert Report have clips. Which is ridiculous because I WANT to hear both sides but I can't deal with his crap anymore.

the debate?unfortunatley i didn't watch it.i'm not old enough to vote [[not my reason for not watching it]]. but i'm old enough to care. i just can't decide who i like. there are reasons why i love Obama. and reasons why i hate McCain. I thought that the debate was really interesting. Basically, I don't know as much as I would like about the complexities of foreign policy or the economy but what I do know is that from everything that I've heard Barack say and everything I've read about the direction he feels the country should be headed in I believe that he is the man to turn this country around. I have complete and total confidence in his experience and judgement.

P.S. I love the album art. It's unique and it demands a second look, which in my mind, is everything you want in an album cover. I hope you feel better Pete.

this is going to be long and obviously late, but I posted a bulletin via the space earlier about the debate...

subject: getting political on yo ass

which is something I'm not the biggest fan of, but seriously.... did you watch the debate last night? because I don't think Jill Hazelbaker, McCain's communications director did...

"There was one man who was presidential tonight, that man was John McCain. There was another who was political, that was Barack Obama. John McCain won this debate and controlled the dialogue throughout, whether it was the economy, taxes, spending, Iraq or Iran. There was a leadership gap, a judgment gap, and a boldness gap on display tonight, a fact Barack Obama acknowledged when he said John McCain was right at least five times. Tonight's debate showed John McCain in command of the issues and presenting a clear agenda for America's future." –Jill Hazelbaker, McCain-Palin 2008 Communications Director

If controlling the dialogue throughout means constantly interrupting and being completely out of turn, then yes... McCain did a fantastic job! The man only listened long enough to make a Monty Burns-like chuckle and start on his defense in the middle of Obama's answers. Then wouldn't stop until they were out of time. And as for Obama saying McCain was "right at least five times", I believe Ms. Hazelbaker is referring to the many times McCain went on long tangents- similar to those my grandpa makes when he can't find his teeth- ten seconds into Obama's responses and Obama had to counter to try and regain control (ie get this man to shut up so he can make his point in full)
so he would begin with "yes, you are right, BUT...". In a debate you need to listen, otherwise you're most likely just yelling about off-topic subjects that to put it simply- make you look damn butthurt. It reminds me of the RNC when a protestor interrupted McCain's acceptance speech, he looked to the crowd with a grin and said "old friends, please ignore the static". Static? That's what he calls people with different viewpoints? Then I assume at the very least half of this country is just ignorable and pointless static. Great job portraying the "ordinary man of the people", but I think I'll be going with the "celebrity" on this one.
  • Jaimez · 1 year ago
    are you serious?
seriously, you only see what you want to see. you're blind.
did you not see what obama did with the bracelet. trying to get attention. and he didn't even know the soldiers name. he had to look down and read it. it was so fake. not to mention the family of the soldier asked him repeatedly not to wear it out of respect for them. So, he uses it to try and one up John McCain in a presidential debate.
    Very Mature.
  • dee · 1 year ago
To be completely honest, when I saw the cover art, I may have been even more excited that you guys and Luke were working together than I was about the actual album. I adore his artwork, the way he thinks about it (or at least the way he talks about it, as I'm not in his head, I only read his interviews), and the way I feel when I look at it. And it's really exciting that you're collaborating because, to me at least, your band's aesthetic and his are so very complimentary.

As for the question of the day, I'm Canadian. I didn't watch the debate, I was at a discussion about the state of arts funding in Canada hosted at a friend of mine's theatre company's studio instead (which really only means that I would've gone anyways, but this way I got conned into helping set up.). We've just had our own election announced (basically illegally, according to a law passed by the guy in office not long after he took office.), so that's where my attention's focussed. And although the party leaders are not quite as charismatic as Obama, it looks like it'll be an interesting run, if some of the antics of the MPs and party representatives keep up. And to be honest, after having one leader who wore roses and capes and did a pirouette behind the Queen, and another one who knocked an intruder into his home out cold with an Inuit statue, most people are gonna fall a bit flat.

I hope your next week more than makes up for this one, then. And the video is wicked, as always Pete.

I wasn't to crazy about the debate. I'm not shore if it was me and my dad bitching back and forth about obama and mccain, the fact they said the same thing over and over agin, or the cocky grin mccain had the entire time. McCain wants us to blow the Mid-East off the map, and Obama wants us to leave Irag. Either way, we are pretty much screwd. Atleast they both agreed on the oil problem. 'thats like getting two d-bags with one stone….' Good Job! Personal crisist suck, have a good Saterday!

I know there have been a lot of reasons why your week was crappy, but whatever they all are, I hope things get better. You have an adorable wife and two great dogs to hang out with, though, so that's better than a lot of things, right?

Seriously though, we're all thinking about you all the time and we're thinking good thoughts a lot more often than you think.

    truefuckinglove.

I have to say, the debate was lacking. I'm more looking forward to the vice-president debate. Sarah Palin is going to get whomped on, for lack of better phrasing. It's been proven by Katie Couric and others that she is no good at answering the tough questions. And I don't believe it's her fault either, she was thrown into this as the perfect pawn to pick up Hilary Clintons stubborn followers who refuse to unite the party. It's going to be the ultimate debate, forget about the arguments about Obama being less experienced, it will be proven that Sarah Palin doesn't know dick outside of Alaska. McCain tried to play some dirty tricks this week, trying to opt out of the debate and ultimately campaining for this next week to try and get Palin out of having to debate. It's obvious she's not ready.

    I believe in Barack Obama.

It's nice to come home from a long night and see you've written a blog post of decent length. I like reading your blogs because they provide me with a strange type of inspiration that I can't quite explain in a comment...

Let me just say that it's good to see something besides:
    A) "Go buy our new single on iTunes!"
    B) "Make sure you check out 'I Don't Care' on iTunes now!"
or C) Answers in the Q&A section of FOBR to questions that tell you how amazing of a person you are and how we haven't lost faith in you.

While I don't dog you for any of those things (I know you are an artist and you have the right to promote your music on your band's website; I know you like to get an uplifting message from an anonymous fan submitted via internet - I can't blame you, I would enjoy those things as much as you probably do, if not more)... it's nice to see something like this. I don't know why, because it's partly about what I just mentioned above, but it instilled something inspirational in me, and it makes me all the more excited about the new album.

I haven't lost faith in you. I don't think you need a question on FOBR to be reassured - all of your fans love you for who you are, not (just) the music you create. I think I'm kind of getting sidetracked, but... I just felt like telling you that, though you may not take this comment to heart like I want you to.

I hope you are feeling better... I've had a crappy week too, and we all go through it, but sometimes it's good to know someone else out there is sleeping a little less comfortably because they are upset as well.

    With love,
    Chelsea

i missed the debate :[ im sorry but im for mccain cuz im republican but i rly wish we had better candidates this year i think mccain looks like a rapist or a raper lol and obama scares me and weirds me out a lot! actually im not sure who i am for...ugh this years so complicated! i am so glad i cant vote until 2012!

i loved how u had palin at the end of the video it was hilarious but very scary. i dont like her. she looked like she wanted to murder u guys! even tho it wasnt rly her. how did u guys do tht? amazing video! i loved it good job

sorry to hear about ur crappy week...ive had a very crappy week too :[ schools rough. i hope u have a better week next week.

pete, great video for "i dont care". the cameos ruled at the end!

the debate was pretty good. i think obama won the first half with the questions on the economy, and mccain won the second half with the questions on foreign policy.

and by the way, even though i disagree with you on who should be elected president, i think a lot of people are getting interested in the election because you talk about it so much. which is certainly a good thing, no matter who you're voting for.

can't wait for the album! and thanks for continuing to be awesome!

I love the album cover, its awesome. Simple but effective.

Also, someone post about Invisible Children, and how you should get back into promoting that and all. I think thats a good idea. You got me into it to start with - I admire how much you believe in it. I wrote an article on it for my school newspaper, even. I guess its sort of like how Andy got me into animal rights and vegetarianism. I admire how much you guys can commit. And choose things that really need attenion.

yeah I donatd $700 from my birthday party to Invisible Children last year. Pete inspired me to do so. Check out my cover of "I Don't Care" on electric violin, guitar, bass, and drums!

the cover is great. people just love to hate. really they're just mad they didnt come up with such a great cover. the boards at absolutepunk are like going back to third grade, half of what the boardies are writing dont make sense.

about the debate. i fucking missed it. i work at ihop. night shifts. its probably on youtube or something.

i dont know, i was extremely excited once i realized that i would be able to vote this year for the first time. but this whole "you have to pick" is really giving me a headache. i think im just gonna go register and vote for myself. shit, im going to ask my friends to do the same. i mean if i can sabotage the whole election then i could possibly become president. ill just make a video and post that shit on youtube, thats the quickest way of spreading the news around without having to spend millions, right. but then again, i dont want to be the first lady/Hispanic/dark skinned president of the united states. i love my life and i dont want to be assassinated.

BUT who cares, leeman brothers is fucked. Chase bought WAMU. by the time i get out of college its going to take me years to find a job cause of this fucking economic collapse.

when/if the start addressing how the printed umphteen millions of dollar to buy fucking trash to save a company's ass then tell me to turn on the fucking tv. until then, why dont they print me some money so i can make it through effin college. shit.

I had Luke's site bookmarked and have a few of his pictures saved on my computer. Unfortunately I'm not able to afford a print as of yet but on Nov 3rd, I'll have my hand on something he designed. I found this picture from Insight, a surfing/skating ad campaign. I love it!! The cloudy smoke in the background is so well done, 3-d, and it makes awsome contrast to the hard 2-d edges of the rabbit. It makes me want to reach out and touch it. Plus, it reminds me of Cobra and Patrick's rabbit outfit...then I kind of want to see his face on top instead of the black rabbit head. Hahahaha Its great!

And about the crappy week, no worries love everything will be great...I know what you mean though, my week wasn't that great either. Nothing a six pack (or twelve) wouldn't fix for me, but hopefully you are better than me. hahaha

    peace

Omg. I love the Q& A on the FOB website. You answered one of my questions. And when I realized it was mine. I was like OMG!! And now my mom thinks I'm on crack. haha.

Not to mention she thinks I'm like WAY too obsessed with FOB and PATD. But I can't help it. What's life without music? And your guys' music amazes me everytime. Never fails.

P.S. You boys are going to make my dating so hard!!!!! You know, being perfect and what not. I know not all guys are as great as you, but how awesome would that be? A world full of Pete Wentz's Ugh! I melt just thinking of it!

O.o i didn't know people didn't like the artwork... makes no sence to me cuz i like it...
i've only seen luke's art through what you've posted really and i like it personally. it's complicated in a simple way.
spencer pratt? oh so that's who he is. now i know the name and the face, i just need to know the why when i have the incentive to look it up. yes i am lazy, thanks for asking.
i was annoyed that McCain couldn't make eye contact. that's a major pet peeve (ugg i hate that saying) of mine. but i think they both did well. i only say that because i thought that McCain was going to bomb but he seemed okayish. i'd say Obama came out looking better though.
man i've been following american politics more than canadian recently... and we have an election coming up soon :z
oh well, i'd rather have an opinion formed when they think nobody's watching then when the campaign bullshit comes forward and it becomes a matter of picking who you think lies the least. i guess i'm just a fly on the wall really. glad to be voting this year.

Side note: I don't understand your brain...it's like you are on a totally different frequency than most people. This is so not an insult either, total compliment. But everthing you say is like you traveled to Mars and found a "Weird sh*t to say.../Creative things you pulled out of you a**..." book and decided this would be anything and everthing that you say and do for the rest of your life. A book to worship, but from the overwhelming mind of Pete Wentz. I envy you on the creativity because sometimes it is hard to come up with concepts for my art. Sometimes, I feel like I have "writer's block" but for artists. Totally sucks. But you just spit out great ideas like it was as natural or as common as picking your nose or peeing. Jealousy anyone? Ding ding ::hand raised:: Hahaha okay I am done praising/creeping you out.

Okay okay I know you probably struggle too behind the scenes, but you make it look so easy with the ideas. At least your ideas have impacted lives in a good way.

at first seeing the cover art, it was definitely not what i expected.
but i liked it. it was so different than any other thing out there.
and if you are hi-fiving mark hoppus on the moon while he gets ready for a blink show, i'm right there with you.

hi pete... this is kind of in response to your post about the 14 year old who doesn't care about politics. i am almost 15 years old and i almost feel like i care way too much about the election and such especially since i have absolutely no say. i've been following each candidate since about a year ago and i am so excited to turn 18, not so i can move out and get away from my parents and do whatever i want, but so i can vote and make a difference in america. i think what you said was so cool.... it made me feel better about being so interested. i can't talk to my friends because they don't pay attention and adults don't ever take what i have to say seriously, so i feel really out of place. but....... i don't know where i'm taking this. thanks, though. really.

also, i absolutely love everything you're doing right now and back you guys 110%. i'm not a huge fan of the cover, but i think it's a fresh idea and i will certainly look into luke chueh's stuff.

i hope everything's going great with your lady and i hope the baby is healthy. i am so happy for you and how much your life has changed in the past year or so. funny..... it wasn't that long ago you were making jokes about never moving out of your parents house.

thanks again, and i really hope you read this. i'm sorry it was so long and boring. i have a hard time making myself seem interesting
  • Kathleen · 1 year ago

whoa, I was just looking at some of Luke Chueh's art yesterday... what he makes is inspiring and definitely different. I'm glad that he did the album cover for Folie A Deux. the cover for it is amazing and I'm sure the album will also be amazing. :D
I thought the debate was good, Obama did great. :)

McCain gave off a villainous vibe to me. I will admit I'm a Barrack supporter but not being bias at all. He just when he would smile or laugh when he thought he was right and Barrack was telling him he was wrong, he looked like villain from a movie.
  • killerbunny · 1 year ago
get some sleep pete... and i love the album cover, its great! oh and if i had a chance to vote ill go for obama, i watched the debate and mccain keeps on bragging about himself and making obama look bad.
  • hopeu2 · 1 year ago
Hey Pete, and I am not one of those uninterested readers, I would like to hear what you have to say. I have never heard of Luxe Chueh, I will have to do some research. But now I will know that he was the one that designed the cover art for Folie Deux, and one of the greats in contemporary art. I am going to check out Lukes art tommorrow.

But, I don't think the album cover means as much as the music. I like the cover art, but what is it. I will have to look at again to try to figure it out. I think the best cover art so far was Infinity On High, and a fan designed this, so I know you would probably think it was the best one too since you didn't design it. I don't think you give yourself enough credit, you sound like Jon Garland, he plays for the Angels now. He doesn't think he deserves a spot in the playoff rotation.

I watched some of the debate, but I missed about 30 minutes, because I had to go out and buy bananas for smoothies before work tommorrow. Of course that is not all what I eat before work, I have to eat some carbs. However this is unrelated to the debate.

I am going to look at it again, I had posted a response on William Beckett's blog about this. I said that I don't know if we should mix politics with religion. Also, I think some people political beliefs are as sacred as religion. I don't like to impose my views on people either. I remember when I was volunteer for one of the Presidential candidates last year, I called people on the phone, and somebody practically told me it was none of my business. One person started talking about religion and just really got upset for me asking her. I really think politics can be very personal and sacred to some people because there was a time before these amendments were passed, many were not able to vote. I remember women and African Americans were not allowed to vote but it is stupid is you ask me. I like the the song by Greenday, "American Idiot"

PS. Don't worry about I understand it is just one of those weeks that a boy goes through. I have bad weeks too sometimes, today I had to suffer through a sinus headache.
  • cendy · 1 year ago
the debate was ok I guess. At first I thought mccain was going to pass out, he sounded really tired. It got better, but they didn't talk about a lot of things. I would've rather heard of what they would like to change here, rather than knowing about Russia and Iran. Almost the whole debate was about foreign policy. anyways, hope this next week is better.
  • sia_nik · 1 year ago
For what I have seen so far, I think Luke Chueh has done a wonderful job with your album cover and concept art. I think he really captured FOB really well. Not sure whether I can describe it well enough except to say that when I saw it, I saw FOB. Maybe it reminded me of you in that bear suit or all the Young Wild Things tour concept art and animation.

Thanks Pete, I was wonding who the heck it was under your mask at the end of the clip when you got knocked out. Seriously (I have been away), the clip still turned out really well and had me laughing. I love the thought and effort you guys put into your video clips. Don't feel bad, at least, not for too long.

Ugh! It's like 2:30. You should post stuff to keep me entertained Petie Poo!
Haha. i think I'm overly tired. Or maybe not...I don't even know dude! Would I really call you that when it's out where you can actually see it? I don't remember. haha. Wow... I think I need to go to sleep. But I can't. Because then the weekend would be over. And no more listening to FOB. =( School's no iPod rule is very tragic!
    Night! =D
  • carnilia · 1 year ago
I have to say that I've liked the cover art since I first saw it, and was fairly taken aback that some people seemed to have such vehemently negative opinions. When you posted the image originally, I was so surprised by it that I actually sat and looked at it and thought about it, which is just not something that album art really ever does any more. I think it's really something special, and I keep coming back to it again and again to look at the shading and that little face, so thank you.

I'm sorry you've had a crappy week, Pete. I'm sending you good thoughts, and I wish you the best.
  • Jinks · 1 year ago
I love Luke Chueh's work, and I think that your cover art is AMAZING. It's so different to what's come before, but then, every single one of your album covers has been a completely different style to the one before, and that's, y'know, AWESOME. (Because who wants monotony, right?) Although I don't know if I could say which I think is the 'best', because since they are such different styles, they're totally incomparable. But yeah. Very, very cool.

As for your self-deprecation: you are not a douche bag, nor are you remotely comparable in that sense (or, as far as I'm aware, in any other) to Spencer Pratt. (Haven't you got yet that most of the people on here will hotly defend you, even against yourself?)

I have yet to watch the debate on youtube. From what I saw from reports it seemed to go pretty well Obama-wise, though, so I shall cross my fingers. (Also, every single time I think about US politics, I get The Hush Sound's "We Believe in (Barack Obama)" in my head. Like, for HOURS.)

I'm sorry you had a crappy week for personal reasons. :( I really hope that everything that's gone wrong sorts itself out for you, and that this week turns out better.

    Hey Pete
I love sitting here talking shite to you that you may or may not read. ANYWAY I am sorry you have had a shitty week hun, it happens to us all. I had a good week, I still love my new job and it was payday so there was a HUGE clothing blow out yesterday. I planned y 30th birthday party (please join us if you find yourself in grey rainy northern england at the end of november). I really wanted some supras for my birthday instead I managed to get hold of a marauder hoodie (which i don't know if i should wear or frame)
I like the album art, i had never heard of luke before but i like it, i am always up for knowing about new artists although i would have had banksey do my album art. AND do you think you could get the boy ronson to do some FOB remixes? awesome
in regards to the presidential debate - being english we have enough shit going on with our own politics - although i truly hope the right person wins
    i think thats all
have a better week mr wentz, after all the treats you have given recently you deserve it

My name is Laure (unpronouncable in English, so, just say Lauren, Laure is a French name. I'm French, actually. That's why, i'm sorry for the mistake i must make. -__-'). I just wanted to tell you that i love the way you write. That must look stupid, but i'm not kiddin'. I know you write the lyrics of the FOB's songs, and i love them (okay, i admit, sometimes, i don't understand everything, but forgive me iv'e been studying english only for a few years...). And a great fan of your band. I'm wainting impatiently (does this word exist ?) for Folie à Deux. And i found the cover GREAT TOO. You'll give a concert in Paris, the 13th of october won't you ? that's it. I CAN'T COME ! Actually, my mum doesn't want me to go alone, and doesn't want to come with me. It is sold out, anyway... So i cry every night (maybe not every night...) listenning to "the (after) life of the party" or "Sugar we're going down", hoping you'll give another another show SOON ! That's all for today. I'll come back to see other texts, to smile a bit :)

whoa, lots of comments on this post,

firstly, you may write "dear interested reader" for me. i'm always interested in what you say
secondly, i love the album art. luke chueh is really talented. one of his paintings is currently my myspace profile picture.
thirdly, i've been hearing a lot of rumours about people making guest appearances on the album, but i won't believe it unless i hear it from you guys.

in response to question of the day, i don't live in america so i haven't seen the debate but if i see it on any of the news channels over here i'll watch it, i'm actually quite interested in it.

and lastly, i'm sorry that you had a crappy week. i hope you're feeling better soon.

    love alannah xo

    ps. pete, you are awesome.

I really do like the art.
And about the debate, I think Obama owned it mostly. Well, because I do believe in most of what Democrats stand for.

I really loved it when Obama talked about pulling out of Iraq because we have millions of other things to worry about than what's going on over there. (Even though it is kind of important).

=)=) No joke I'm dressing up as him for Halloween.

"Can I have some candy? And your vote?"

    Okay I'm done now.

tbh, i really like the album art. it's one of those things that you don't get right away and you probably won't get unless you're your the artist, which is nice. it almost lets the art mean to us what we want it to, you know? i don't know, it's weird to me, but so is everything.

and about the debates, i didn't watch, but i overheard my dad rooting about mccain and calling obama various amounts of words that would make me look like an ass for even saying them. i wasn't interested, i knew it was just going to upset me or make me think to much.

i have however concluded that if obama doesn't win, i'm going to live in my attic for four years. :]

i don't like it when your weeks are bad. it makes my weeks bad too and as if i haven't got enough of those already, haha. have a good next week and the week after and the week after. i'm always thinking about you, praying over you, so keep strong, yeah?

I'm sorry you had a crappy week Pete =S

Though I hope this will cheer you up, I have an awesome band in montreal that are really really great.

    here's their Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/lastcrow

I can't stop listening to them, their melody and lyrics are pretty good and I can't imagine how good they will sound in studio if they have their chance in the music industry. Please listen to them, they're really great =D

I just checked out Luke Chueh's site, and I think he's a really good artist. He's definitely someone to watch out for in the near future.

I caught just the last half of the debate on CNN. I thought both McCain and Obama made really strong points. McCain has a really strong foreign policy agenda, but I find Obama's economic platform/strategy much more appealing. If I were an American I'd be more concerned about having economic security and fortifying my country's defenses first before I go out and try to deal with other countries. But that's just me. And besides, I think that's one thing that any concerned citizen of any country would want to have anyway, so...

Aww, Pete. I'm sorry to hear that you had a crappy week. I hope everything's fine now. Take it easy on yourself, okay? =)

EDIT: I just saw the "I Don't Care" video and it was beyond what I expected! I was laughing and staring the entire time I was watching it, with my mouth open. Evil Fall Out Boy is hot! Lol! I loved JoeTroh in it! Lmfao! And the cameo's are wicked cool by the way. =)

    Tsk-tsk, Patrick for stealing the old man's walker...Lol! =)

    dear (un)interesting writer,
i just saw the new video (what kinda fan am i!?!) i have to say it made my day/week/month/year. its hilarious. and pretty much true. my favorite part is either joe taking his mask off and showing gabe, or you sitting in the car dancing. the sad part is, thats how i dance in the car, haha. but i am a little pissed. about a year and a half ago, my friends and i made a video about "the alternate personalities of fall out boy". since patrick is known for being a nice, down to earth guy, we portrayed him as an asshole, who made andy his slave. haha. anyway, you totally stole that idea from us!
i like the new album cover a lot. i think it's probably my favorite, although i do like evening out with your girlfriend. that one is just so innocent. its nice. im also glad you got that artist to do the cover for you. thats like patrick coming to my house and singing me to sleep (*swoon*).

answer of the day: it was a bit boring. i think both candidates could have done better. they both repeated the same things theve been saying in interviews and speeches. although, i think obama won this round. mccain needs to stop critisizing obama, and get to the point. i feel the need to tell him to grow a pair and tell us EXACTLY what hes going to do for our country. honestly, im pretty into these things, but this debate was just too boring. after an hour of watching it, i went into my room and did my homework while listening to tokio hotel (my current obsession).

an answering your ps: i like to think im pretty easy on you! besides that time i called you an asshole.... well, you kinda had that coming. ugh, now i feel bad. so ill give you a compliment.
pete wentz has really, really, REALLY awesome taste in shoes.

I only saw highlights of the debate coz I was not staying up to watch it.
I live in Ireland so infairness it was on too late even for me.
But I found McCain to be very condecending towards Obama.
Saying he was too young and inexpirienced.
Also the fact that McCain was talking about looking back and what he has done.
He has to realize that you can't live on past merit.

The first time I saw the cover I absolutely loved it. I said that it my favorite album cover you guys have had and I meant it. There was just something about, like it was giving a hidden message, something to learn that I really liked. From what little I've seen of Luke Chueh's art, I think I like it already.
And I'm sorry about your bad week. :( Shitty weeks come and go. Things will get better.

As a complete stranger I know my opinion doesn't matter, but I like Like's art a lot. And for some reason, it reminds me of the art of Terribly Odd (http://www.terriblyodd.com/index.htm), an artist whom my local comic shop works with closely. (Also, it's the best comic shop ever. If you're ever back in Orlando, you guys should totally check out the Uberbot.)

I absolutely love Luke's work. I can't imagine how sweet it would be to have the Frank/Donnie Darko piece hanging in my apartment. I wonder who ended up buying that? I honestly like how simple the album cover looks but it's meaning goes farther than just that.

I, personally, was frustrated by the debate. I understand because of the financial crisis neither candidate is taking a stroke position on what calls to make on the bailout but this was their time to show the people firmly where they stand on the issues. Isn't that the point of these amazingly hyped debates? I've been volunteering for the Obama campaign for the last 4 months here at my college so there wasn't anything said about either candidates beliefs/view points that I didn't already know. I liked that Barack was able to go round for round with McCain on foreign policy. (Speaking of which, I can't WAIT to see the VP debate. Oh shit, it's going to be fantastic! Pretty sure I have more foreign policy experience than her since I've volunteered with a youth group in Mexico... but I digress.) I think it was neutral, no clear winner.

You've got a beautiful wife, future child, friends, fans, and parents. Everyone has low weeks, but we've all got a lot of life changing experiences and events in the close future. Things are going to be looking up.
  • OvercastDad · 1 year ago
i wouldn't say that it was one of the greatest debates ever, but we really haven't had one of those for many a year . good points were made but to me it's all for show.

i agree that luke chueh is amazing. any one who sites yoshitomo nara as an influence scores points with me automatically. i think the cover is great and very unique from anything you have had before. today our world is one of instant gratification. Unfortunately, it is also one of instant judgement. for the most part i am amazed at the grace and style that many of the kids use to express themselves. they are way above where i was as a teen. but on the other hand there are many idiots (young and old) out there too. and a bad week just magnifies everything. keep the faith and take solace in the fact that the many diehards outweigh the few non-believers.

McCain didn't look Obama in the eyes once.
    What a coward.
maybe im being a bit too radical, but oh well.
  • Nicole · 1 year ago
I loved how he refuted McCain's attempt to ONCE again attach his POW history to his campaign by whipping out that bracelet and attempting to show how he was "connected" with the soldiers, and Obama pulled his own out as a move to be like "and your point?"
I think McCain just needs to up his game a bit as far as his debating skills go.
    They both did well though.

Also, I doubt if you'll even read this.
I think you should touch on the point that not all fall out boy fans that are of voting age are voting for Obama simply because you and/or your band/label mates support him. (I have been a supporter of his ever since I heard of him) Often times when I mention that I'm a Fall Out Boy fan as well as a supporter, mostly on FOBR, I'm automatically jumped on by people saying that I don't know anything and I'm just following your "guidance"

When did you hear of him? just wondering.
First time most people heard him was at the DNC in Boston, 2004. He was introduced to thunderous applause, and for what reason? I don't think he had done so much beforehand to help serve people.
I had no idea why everyone was clapping and I got an immediate sense of something being..off. with him, and how people reacted to him.

Pete, I think everyone can act like a douche, once-in-a-wile. It's like everyone's got that 5 min. of fame...

I think the debate was good, Obama really stood up for himself.

On another note, what's with Palin (I think that's how you spell it..) in the video?
    That was kinda odd.
But, I guess I shouldn't expect anything less from Fall Out Boy..
Your music videos are always odd but, definitely awesome.

The thing I love about you is that you keep your fans informed on topics, and you kind of let them have an insight into your life through the internet. You make a shit load of people smile by your antics. You're like a breath of fresh air, we need more people like you.

Good for you that you got what you wanted for the album art.
you always get what you want now, huh?
think of the debate? nobody thinks, peter, they feel.
I feel that Obama is in way over his head. Everything he said sure, sounds great, but how is it feasible? I agree more so with what McCain said about the economy. It is more realistic. That, and Obama acted and sounded like a pissy schoolboy who didn't get his way.
ps. do you ever eat your dinner and brush your teeth at 3 in the morning just to feel like you're sharing something with the eastern hemisphere?
  • Delphina! · 1 year ago
Obama was amazing in the debates. He got his points across clearly, with eye contact, and without seeming stiff or irritated. McCain didn't look at Obama for more than 3 seconds, and quite frankly, in something as serious as a presidential debate, that's just plain disrespectful. In a case like that, it doesn't matter if you hate that person so much that your gut wrenches when you see them, all that matters is that you seem cool and collected, because the American people want someone who is willing to accept the differences of others, and someone who will work to please everyone, and clearly John McCain can't do that. I also got a vibe that if he DID look at Obama for more than a few seconds, he might get angry or something. I think he may have a temper problem, and that's something we don't need in the white house. Also, I'm kinda frightened that, if John McCain should have something happen to him, Sarah Palin would be our president. That is some scary crap. I'm anticipating the debate between her and Senator Joe Biden, but I strongly hope that they're working on her public speaking, otherwise it will be an hour (or an hour and a half?) of incoherent drivel.

this will come back to haunt mr. obama.
and i disagree. for the most part, barack obama seemed irritated. And, smug.
He thinks he is effing superman. guess what, there's already one god and one superman, and you need to stop pretending like you're qualified to fill that role, obama.
he is so ego-centric. and i know this because i have a father and a big family full of people who act very similair to him.
  • Delphina · 1 year ago
If, in your opinion, Barack Obama seemed irritated, at least he was much better at hiding it than McCain. John McCain's refusal to look at Obama, and the way he spoke only to Jim Lehrer showed that he was unwilling to acknowledge his opponent in a respectful manner. If, in the case that you are a McCain supporter, it makes sense that you would think he did better, and the same goes for me being an Obama supporter. That's why we try to get non-biased people to decide who won.
Also, just something I noticed, you said "there's already one god..." and that could be seen as offensive to someone from different beliefs as you. I'm an atheist, but it doesn't bother me either way, it's just that, for example, some religions are polytheistic, and they believe in more than one.
Thanks for taking the time to read my last post and create a good rebuttle, though!
I love talking politics with anyone who's willing. :)

I don't know why McCain didn't look at Obama much, it's just his personal choice. It doesn't automatically mean he did it out of disrespect.
I am not supporting John McCain, but I defiantely do not support Obama.
I have to walk my puppy at the moment, but sure, we can talk about this or whatever at a later time, yes?

i wasn't aware that there were a lot of people who DIDN"T like the cover.

actually i too think it's the best cover you've ever done. i really honestly do. i think it really...i don't know...like...channels the essence of you guys. it's like, if someone took you four, and made you into a painting, that would be it...does that makes sense? like, i think it's a good representation of your band and how you are. it's weird but not really weird just sort of...ironic and sarcastic. and just overall...really awesome...i don't know if that makes sense. i'm sure your better with words anyways :D

i watched the debate. and it was good and all. i think overall Obama won that round. but was really entertaining about was how Mccain just kept getting mad cause Obama kept calling him John. and Mccain called Obama, Senator Obama. i think it was real clever of Obama to address Mccain by his first name because then the debate gets on a more personal level. and i thought that was real clever on Obama's part.

it's too bad you've had a bad week. i hope stuff gets better :D. can't wait to talk to you on tuesday! and i have a question... why make it on a weekday? when everyone will be in school? i actaully have study hall during the chat, and lunch after that and i always carry around my school laptop (yes, we get laptops at school to carry around. if our gpa's are highte than 3.3) the only thing i'm worried about is that the site will be blocked and i won't be able to get on. which would be bad...
oh, and, when is it over? or will i be able to come home and you'll still be on...

    peace out homes. :D

I just might agree with you about the cover art-I think it's amazing. And since Luke did do it, I think we should definitely do the Midtown/Blink reunion on the moon.........anyone with me?
  • Miss Ashley Jean · 1 year ago
I fail at being a prestigious, well-involved college student. My fourth year and the only time I watched a debate was when I was in high school. School assignment, yanno? On the whole--the events that happened pre-debate made me consider how MCCain is as transparent as the ice in my cup. Too bad tomorrow I have to face a right-winged professor who may say that "MCCain, the man just brings tears to my eyes all the time." I'll update you on the status of his catharsis.

On a side note, Luke is what I would consider a minimal artist. The fact that he can capture an emotional in a single action in basic colors and identifiable objects is what makes his art captivating.
  • Jaimez · 1 year ago

Pete, I love Luke Chueh's work. He's genius at expressing himself like you are.

I have a question, though. Have you ever met someone who was just such an amazing person that it blew your mind when you found out about what kind of shit they went through in their past? And I don't mean a bad past like serious depression or anything like that. I mean more like...unbelievably stuff that I still can't believe he survived.

I have to wonder...why has my depression made me so much less of an amazing person when he's overcome hell without being the worst person in the world.

the 'i dont care' video is totally blew my mind! i knew its gonna be great but it turned out that its much more better than ive ever imagined. my fav part is when joe turns into gabe. wow, man! that was awsome! i laughted so hard that i almost fall from my chair. during the second, third, 100...watch i was sitting on the floor. :D
i was surprised that you looked pretty cool in it too! no offens, i didnt wanna be rude. i just noticed that you looked great! oh and that 'dancing' sorta thing that you did with the security guy was impressive. maybe you have good skills for dancing... :P
anywayz, i dont wanna just say how brilliant fall out boy is.
i have a question that might be stupid. ya know, im not american so maybe its just me but...how can you support obama so clearly. i mean you make shirts with 'suport obama', you make a cd (mixtape) filled with thoughts about the nomination, you say it infron of the cameras that you support him and all your friends too (cobras, tai...). in my country (hungary) its not safe do that. is america so different? you can really do anything?
oh and tell patrick that hes a miracle for me! how can he put on and than loose weight so quick? :P

i think the debate pretty much sucked. both candidates talked in circles about basic stuff we already knew about. i was kinda bummed neither of them layed down anything important. hopefully the next one is better.
