...and this picture is just awesome. xD
Last weekend my husband and I drove to Alabama, from Florida, with my sister, who is 16, and my, six year old, son Ryan. I rescheduled my follow-up appointment with my neurosurgeon for the morning of the 28th, so that we could take the kids to the FOB / Blink show. My son and sister are Big fans of you, (your dogs, your wife, your son, your band and Clan). We literally had $150 in the bank and were seven hours from home just so the kids could see you, they think that much of you. We got there early, we were probably in the first twenty cars there, knowing that you usually come out and meet kids before the show. The kids waited and waited at the side gate for you. They saw you under a white tent taking pics with kids. My son had a fit because he was so excited to see you, yet he couldn't get to you. They thought you'd walk over. Then you guys disappeared. We waited for quite a while longer before they let us in the gates. They were still hopeful with thier magazines and cd liners in hand ... thinking he'll come out any minute .. he always does. The show starts and my son is like "where's Peter? I want to see him!". He asked the security guards and the cops to take him to you. No one would, or could help. The show went on and was over. We waited and waited for you, thinking maybe you would come out after. It was probably 11:30 and he was crying his eyes out. No sign of Peter. He had been there waiting to see you for over seven hours and was at his breaking point. We thought you'd get a kick out of meeting him too. He's really smart and loves music, more like a teenager than a little kid. He was dressed the part in a skeleton tee, studded belt with his little black converse and his gray and black plaid hoodie. So cute. He was waiting to tell you about how he named his guinea pigs after you .. well not exactly you, their names are Hemingway, Rigby and Sugar. Wonder how he come up with those? Just wanted to let you know that you missed getting to meet a really great little kid and he missed getting to meet you. A little boy who cried himself to sleep on the way home after the show because he was so disappointed.
I know you won't reply to this and you may not even see it, but I had to say it and well.. there it is.
besides, your son is only six. he still has so much time and I'm sure he'll have plenty of future opportunities to meet his hero.
no need for a guilt trip; I think it would be more fair for you to be thanking him for the chance to see such an amazing show, I know I would have shaved my head to be able to see this tour :)
he does do unplanned ones as well, from what I understand, which is amazing of him. I just think getting to meet band members without paying before or after a show like that should be seen more as a privilege than a right. it's rarely going to happen so you shouldn't be too discouraged if the chance doesn't appear. at least you tried.
My brother in law is in a popular band, that is signed, and has gone on tour after tour. I have been to many shows and I know what goes on before a show ... a whole lot of waiting and sound check and waiting and eating and getting dressed to go on stage that's about it. Being backstage isn't nearly as glamorous as you have imagined, in fact there's usually nothing glamorous about it. Pete is a regular person, he may be in a band but he's still a regular guy. Don't get so defensive about a total stranger. I'm sure he hasn't read this and could car less about what I think if he has.
In fact, this is the first concert Ryan has been to where he hasn't met the bands. He's met Paramore, PATD, Cobra Starship, 3 doors down, Coheed and Cambria, AAR, Tyga, We The Kings, Framing Hanley and 3OH3! . We have never paid to meet any of these people. However meeting Pete is all he has wanted to do for two years. He really thinks he's the coolest guy. This was the time that really mattered to him and it didn't happen. I can be disappointed if I want to, and so can Ryan. I don't have to be grateful to go to the show. Because I have a job and I paid for the tickets, the parking and the gas to get there. So as an adult I'm not sure why it is that I should be so honored to go to a show. I guess I could be grateful to myself, for taking my family there? They should be grateful to have fans that care enough about them, that provide the cash flow that allows them to ride around in nice buses and design cool hoodies, and I'm sure they are. They provide a service to thier fans. As a consumer I have the right to say I was disappointed about anything I want related to the product they provide. I was talking to Pete as a parent with a broken hearted child. Pete is in a band, he has a cool job, he is not the president. Maybe he was sick, maybe he was sleepy. I don't know, but I was just letting him know what happened in my experience at the show. I think that's fair enough. I didn't attack him or call him names. I think he a good guy or I would never let my son even want to be around him, much less cover his walls in FOB posters buy he and my sister very expensive Clan merch and etc.
Speaking of grateful we also have tickets to the Atl show ... Thank you me.
Chill Out. Don't get so upset over someone else opionion, it's only the internet!
and Pete probably did has read this, because he tends to read the comments here and this one definitely stands out.

Pete,
I would like to book Fall Out Boy for a benefit concert for Invisible Children this summer. I'm part of a non-profit organization, MAJIC (www.TheMAJIC.org), run and founded by high school students. We organize and host events to benefit established charities that promote international peace. We are interested in booking Fall Out Boy, but don't know how to go about doing so. If you could respond in any way that would be a great help. Thank you.
