A Homeboy's Life: A Homeboy's Life - you never know when gov reform will relate to...

I made a donation. Not because Pete Wentz told me to, but because I wanted to help out a fellow human being who needed support. Love one another...
  • drkshadow17 · 2 months ago
^^^^ this person has a heart. just because its pete wentz and hes so 'rich' doesnt mean you cant help another person. hes TRYING to help someone out= he doesnt have to do it but he is. but he is.
  • KAT D · 2 months ago
Why do fans need to make a donation? I'm pretty sure the whole group can pay for everything. Blink, your band, your friends who are just as wealthy as you are, Pete.

I don't see why anyone would need to give a donation... Yeah, it might be a nice thing to do, but I'm sure you alone can pay her medical bill. After all you do own a million dollar house, and drive expensive cars. Not to mention you have a wife who's just as wealthy. The majority of your fans are working on minimum wage and struggling with college. Get real.
  • wictorya · 2 months ago
stupid thing...do you think Pete is a multimillionaire?! he need to pay bills, support his son and wife and so one....
  • KAT D · 2 months ago
You seem to be the stupid one here, Wictorya.

His wife can support herself, seeing as she has money and earns money from foolish people still buying her albums and being on a television show. Her dad and sister also have plenty of money.

Pete doesn't need to worry about "supporting" his wife, son or his family. He's got more than enough money to last him a long time. Not only from the album sales, but from his clothing line, book, nightclub, etc...
  • wictorya · 2 months ago
so maybe you live with him? that you know everything about his finance or you just don't have what to do and calculate his money days and days... You think he got all money form albums that Fall Out Boy sell out by himself...no darling,he need to segment this "money" with Andy,Patrick,Joe, managers and many other peoples whow work with them...
  • KAT D · 2 months ago
Obviously he needs to split it with the other members of the band and everyone else involved. Your argument makes no sense. Even with the splitting of the money with the band and everyone else involved, he was still able to afford a nice home and vehicle the average person wouldn't be able to afford.

Pretty sure out of everyone in the band, he is making more than them due to his shitty overpriced clothing line and other deals he has. It's not about "living with him" or "just don't have what to do and calculate his money days and days and days" You even trying to argue this is stupid. It's pretty obvious that he has money, and a simple $42,000+ isn't going to hurt his (or the bands as a whole) wallet like it would to the average fan.
  • haushinkaisagirl · 2 months ago
wictorya stop trying to kiss ass in hoping pete reads your comments of you defending him. KAT D is right. we're working class people too, we need help just as much. granted what happened to his friend is pretty sad, but he DOES have the money theres no need for him to ask us. though, it was a generous thing he did, so brownie points.
  • wictorya · 2 months ago
really believe me I not trying to kiss somebody ass...I think you probably didn't read all story...so shut up. If you girls are so rich that maybe donate for this girl $ 42,850! hm how about that? oh wait...you don't have money.don't worry pete will donate for everybody and everywhere...(this is how you think)
  • milubbles · 2 months ago
It's just an example of what happens all around the United States. Take THIS example and multiply it by say, 5 million+? Plus, it's not his responsibility to pay her medical bills. Sure, he can make a donation himself, but if people get the idea that Pete/Blink will pay all their bills, what will that say to all their friends? That they can go get into a heap of accidents and just go begging for money? No.

I'd help you Pete, but I can't work yet... Nor am I given money because I'd probably spend it like crazy on others. :\
  • wuwu · 2 months ago
seriously? I'm pretty sure 1. she's not dying and 2. she's not the only one who has problems. Shit i might as well put up a site like "boo hoo i'm spending X amount of dollars on college, donate to 'help the cause'"...gtfo with this
  • crysnelson · 2 months ago
hey wuwu don't be so jealous. set up your "boo hoo" website, you never know people might donate...i doubt it though because you seem too negative to attract anyone that would actually give a damn
  • wictorya · 2 months ago
you guys are so generous <3
    gash this realy suck.
I can't imagine surgery of appendix cost $ 42,850! wow guys in my country it is for free.realy not lying...that is CRUD to live in USA and pay such a big bill for surgery.
could everybody donate?even i'm from europe?
  • hopeu2 · 2 months ago
$42,850, now that is a lot for medical bills, we all could use this health care reform. I can't believe this would cost that much, this is some serious debt.
  • gloworm · 2 months ago
that's more than it cost me to get a bachelors degree!!
  • maximusfeen · 2 months ago
    sweetheart :)
  • Matt · 2 months ago
wow. that sucks. good luck to her hey.
  • invadernina · 2 months ago
Oh my god, that's so awful! I'm going to donate right away. <3 Get better, Ali!
  • iAlex · 2 months ago
i just rebloged it. at the moment i know for a fact my mum only has $2 on her debit card, but when i gets some money ill give her some to put on her card and then ill donate :)
  • Andrea · 2 months ago
Poor girl. No ins. here either; fingers always crossed that nothing like this ever happens. Good looking out on Pete's part. Also, it's really reassuring to know that FOB fans will probably get their collective shit together on this one.
  • Colleen Plumer · 2 months ago
I wish I could have donated more but I'm hoping everyone can chip in and we can make a difference for Ali. Please don't forget the poeple that don't have a voice or an outlet and friends like Ali does. See where you can help in your community as well. Spread the word for Ali and others like her. My sister was in the same situation and just voicing your concern can help someone's day go better.
  • nervs12 · 2 months ago
    we'll surely do!
  • poorcopies · 2 months ago
It sickens me that one of the richest countries in the world can treat it citizens like this but still finds millions of pounds to waste of stuff like wars.

Health care should a RIGHT, not a privilege.
  • iamraya · 2 months ago
Don't you love how we spend the most and get the least out of our healthcare. Boy, gotta love good ol' American democracy.

I don't have healthcare coverage, either.
  • mistyrayns · 2 months ago
done. you're a good man, pete wentz. lol.
  • Tamia · 2 months ago
I'm living with this same healthcare situation with my mother. It's horrible. I hope the people in Washington get their heads out of their asses soon and fix this. All this bickering by people that have never struggled makes me sick.
  • Sonya · 2 months ago
That is just horrible. It really upsets me. I feel really strongly about this, but I'm not sure if I can donate. My mom works in the health system, she's a nurse and she's seen how bad things can be, she also feels REALLY strongly about this, and wants a completely different healthcare system. We both think making money out of sick people and cutting them off, because you can't make something out of them, is wrong, immoral and just plain disturbing. About the insurance companies y mom just said "they're outlaws!". But I guess this is what capitalism is all about, isn't it? Making profit out of each and every possible situation? Sometimes I wonder why it's always the communists and the socialists we pick on and call horrible names. But my mom says, that there are certain laws in place, that the hospital has to pay for it in this kind of situation. But since this is the route that's being taken and you guys are being so kind and generous, I'm going to keep trying to convince her to donate money. But there's some stuff with credit cards and stuff. But I'll definitely spread the word!! I think this is a great thing you're doing about a horrible, unjust, problem in our world.
  • bloggerfeld · 2 months ago
the outrage from all the non-americans in the comments really covers it. the state of things is nothing short of shocking. here's a question for you, though. if i barely have cash to spare, does a $1 donation show i support the cause or make me look like an asshole? What i'm really, asking, i guess, is does it help?
  • symphonyofwhispers · 2 months ago
    Of course I'll donate.
You're amazing for doing this Pete. :)
  • Eikcam · 2 months ago
I'm sorry, thats really hard. Thoughts and prayers for family and friends. I hope everything turns out alright. A donation will be made, I cant guarantee much but its the little bit that may help out.
  • Kirstenn · 2 months ago
I can only donate 25$, this isn't a pay week, but I'll definitely donate more when I have some money to spare, I hope that she doesn't have to live with this for too long.

Also, I am not American, so I really have no concept of what that's like, but here in Canada we really value our universal healthcare, so I hope that Obama's reforms get sorted out relatively quickly... it's not right to profit off of the suffering of others.
  • pardonshadow · 2 months ago
    Wish I could :/,
I have no money at ALL.
  • AnaClara · 2 months ago
That's so nice from you :)
  • alix · 2 months ago
i've got $50 CAD to last me to the end of the month, but ali's got my best wishes.

damn i'm glad to be in canada right now....
  • hopeu2 · 2 months ago
Sorry to hear that. I might can donate a few dollars on Thursday! I hope I'm not wasting money on fan clubs, just renewed yesterday when the money could be going to this cause. Well, hopefully the bands will put their money where they're mouth is. Well, I need to splurge every once in a while, just a fan club and a pair of shoes for myself.
  • morning face · 2 months ago
i can't donate as i am currently donating to a friend in a similar situation. unemployed, uninsured, with student loans to repay, and then sudden need for an appendectomy. thankfully it looks like it'll be a lot less than your friend's surgery, but it still ain't cheap.

props for boosting the signal, i hope she gets enough to pay off those hospital bills. she should also look into negotiating with the hospital to reduce the bills. word on the street is that they are pretty into negotiating so that they actually get SOMETHING, even if it isn't the full (overcharged) amount they initially asked for.
  • mic · 2 months ago
poor girl. i'm pretty broke but i'm sure between you, your band and blink-182 you guys could cover it.
  • iiicecreamheadachee · 2 months ago
awwwh you guys are adorable :) cant wait for believers never die.
  • mptmatthew · 2 months ago
I am really lucky, and although people complain about the NHS all the time in the UK, it is actually a great thing to have. Reading this made me realize exactly how bad health care is in the US; not in terms of quality, just accessibility.
I have just applied to do Medicine in the UK, and as a prospective doctor (hopefully) i cant see how anyone could let someone suffer just based on how much money they have.
  • Lindsay · 2 months ago
But if she lived overseas, she would more than likely still be waiting for her surgery. It is sad that she has a lot of bills now, but hey at least she is still alive.
  • Fiona · 2 months ago
um not quite. overseas we may wait for stuff like elective surgery and dental but for life saving stuff such as having an appendix out, which is what Ali had, its done straight away without bills.
  • Danielle C. · 2 months ago
I feel for Ali, hardcore. I had to go the the ER and didn't even get anything other than painkillers and an ultrasound done and it was $6k + another $1k of miscellaneous doctors bills and didn't even fix what was wrong so I was still in pain and sick for a good two months after this. What a mess our health care system is.

Anyone who argues that universal health care is socialism obviously hasn't had real experiences with it.
  • Kels12 · 2 months ago
Oh, wow. I want to donate more than anything, but my parents hate it when I want to get/donate to things online, she doesn't trust anyone.
My absolute best wishes are with her.
  • gloworm · 2 months ago
i'll see what i an do. I love canadian health care. it's not the best but still not the worst either.
  • petesucksdick · 2 months ago
    pete sucks dick
  • iheartpete · 2 months ago
fuck you this is a really sweet thigh he's doing right here! he's trying to help a friend in need!
and what the hell is the point of signing up to someones personal blog site or whatever if you hate them? thats just stupid! i think ur the one who suck dick honestly
  • xcarcrashheartx · 2 months ago
i'll definetly try to get the word out.
  • Kelley · 2 months ago
I will definately donate and spread the word. :)

and I know we're all probably very low on cash right now... but I bet if we all donate at least one dollar, we could make a big difference. :D
  • cobrastyle14 · 2 months ago
all of fob could most likely pay for her medical bills on pocket change let alone fob and blink i'm sorry that I'm not donating money and she will be in my prayers but when you are working minimum wage and trying to take care of a kid you can't really donate money when someone with alot of money asks you to do it.
  • Darkcrystal08 · 2 months ago
Pete is not asking for a huge ass donation.. it all adds up. Every penny counts... and if you dont feel like you dont want to donate or dont have the money..thats fine. Nobody is making you. Pete has a huge heart and if he can get one fan to donate $5 thats still something.

Many people have this problem, I dont have healthcare for myself or my son. But if I had an emergancy come up I would like to think I had people around me to help. Treat others how you would like to be treated. And dont give Pete shit for being an amazing person that wants to help an another out.
  • hollypeniche · 2 months ago
thats crazy, i just spent an hour in a hospital because my brother had to get an xray on his hand cuz he jammed it in the door, we thought it was broken.
turned out to be nothing, and it cost us nothing at all.
this is the australian system, we're only a relatively new country (like, 300 years old technically)
and the US is flogging people with these huge ass bills, when they are a perfectly civilized country?
    far out brussel sprout.
its nice that you guys are helping her out (:
  • usavsaustralia · 2 months ago
thats one reason why i love living in australia

We had this healthcare discussion in my philosophy class today, got no idea what it's about, I'm terribly naive about that topic.
Hope she can get all the donations she needs from us though.. one of my relatives is in her thirties and terminally ill, I know I'd want the same for her.
  • David · 2 months ago
I really agree with KAT D. Pete, Helping that girl out with your own fortune will not force you to use public transportation. But you do own a freakin lambo, man. Think about the proportions of wealth between you and the typical FOB fan...
  • crysnelson · 2 months ago
It's wonderful that you are using your voice to help Ali....one person can make a difference in the world. The people who are downing you for posting this are just bitter.
  • jmarie_469 · 2 months ago
    Poor girl... that's really sad.
  • Anon · 2 months ago
    Holy shit guys, calm down.
If someone you knew had a problem like this, you'd be saying the opposite. It's not like they're asking much of you.
    I'll donate :]

    Geez.
  • I hate you · 2 months ago
If someone I knew had a problem like this girls, and I was Pete Wentz- in a famous band, with 3 other band mates who have just as much money as I do... I would not ask for a donation from fans whose parents/themselves are probably going through tough times, while I get to take my happy ass to the Dior store on Rodeo Drive and splurge on $534,000 clothing.
  • ClassicCarCraze · 2 months ago
UGH, I really wish I could. But I hope you guys get enough money for her.

    don't bitch about it
  • wentzrosslvr · 2 months ago
oh jeez are some of you children? get real, you always hear stuff about donations everywhere, they arent saying you HAVE to donate but you can if you want. So who cares about how much fall out boy and blink make this isnt about them, its about someone they care about and if you didnt notice it said they would be donating as well . Take this with some level of maturity, seriously.
  • xpavlover · 2 months ago
Seriously? Fuck off, guys, he's only asking for help, he's not telling any of us to do anything. Get off his ass. This is serious to him, don't argue. Donate if you want, don't donate if you don't want, alright? Leave it at that.
  • sjdklgjsdg · 2 months ago
It's still too much for him to pay alone. And probably 94% of the fans don't even buy the albums these days.
  • xo · 2 months ago
i hate to say it but i agree with all of the "i'm poor, YOU have money, you pay for it" people. between blink and fob i'm sure you can afford to help her out without asking the fans to when we don't have any money as it is. you are doing a good thing posting this, but keep in mind we are all struggling to afford rent and food and maybe the occasional ticket to go see a band we like, not driving bmws while wearing $500 hoodies.
  • automaticz · 2 months ago
    ...
  • abstract · 2 months ago
I dont understand why theres a debate going on. pete had asked for donations, if your not willing to give them, then why even bother staying on the site to cyber fight? just log off, and stop adding to the problem. he isnt making anyone donate he is asking. so grow the hell up, if your friend had it happeneing to them, youd do everything in your power to try to help them out too, if you were a good friend....

just stop the bullshit, especially you Kat
  • FOBiiee · 2 months ago
i'll spread the word Pete! tht's the least i can do...
  • FOBiiee · 2 months ago
wtf?! people stop crying like lil babies! he's just trying to get extra help and maybe also bringin th problem under our attention. even if i wouldn't be a fan i would say the same. mean, for some people its never enough, if he does smt bad you're talking shit and now he wants to do a good thing n just ASKS our help n still ur seeing it as a bad thing. srsl, logic, ANYONE?
  • FOBiiee · 2 months ago
u know actually it's rll striking..i live in belgium n we have like assurances and a special fund, n it pays a part or (almost) everything back. Tht made me notice again how lucky i am, not to be corny or anything bt still, it's pretty damn awesome
