Seriously though, people need to maybe, possibly consider other people's feelings for just a second...

2. what is the deal with idol worship? i just don't really get it... nobody's divinely perfect, and nobody should try to act like a specific person/handful of people, they should be like themselves... a person don't make a name for him/herself by being someone else.

1. (Kind of like my number 4) but don't you people have other things to look at on the internet besides the same posts all the time? the internet is so freaking enormous, its like having a family of blue whales all jammed into a glass of water... basically bursting. try reading/watching something new. go to www.stumbleupon.com. nobody cares much about your internet personality, anyway, unless that's the only way you do your business. the world out of doors is neat, too. maybe check that out once in a while.

Re: top fives of 2008

I don't want to be that "Yeaah-i-totally-agree" girl, but, uh, I am. Sometimes, when i read the comments, i'm a bit... surprised. Yeah, that's the word. I mean, HEY YOU DON'T HAVE TO AGREE WITH EVERYTHING THAT GUY SAYS ! I really love you Pete, but, sorry, sometimes I disagree. And i say it. That's all. No need to love EVERYTHING in a person to be a fan. Don't you think so ?
Oh, and i also agree with the swearing thing.
Bye all.

Re: top fives of 2008

You are absolutely correct everyone should know Ashley Nicols he is the most amazing man on the planet. Are you guys all in hicghschool
Ryan Ross (6:47:20 PM): do you mean do we use a sampler? our drummer uses a drum sampler which we put some of the stuff on, and he plays some of it
Ryan Ross (6:47:43 PM): im in college. im 18 the other three of them are 17 and in high school
Pete Wentz (6:48:26 PM): Like of the pure volume site songs what would not be part of your live show
Ryan Ross (6:50:18 PM): well right now the synth stuff because we need a keyboard player. we are trying out a few guys soon though. and some of the drum parts are different.
Pete Wentz (6:50:48 PM): I absolutely love the stuff
Ryan Ross (6:52:16 PM): but we have two guitar players one sings and i play lead. its kind of hard to describe it. we are a rock band but about half of a song will be dance-ish or sort of 80s sounding
Ryan Ross (6:52:28 PM): really? wow thanks alot man
Ryan Ross (6:53:12 PM): it really is a huge compliment coming from you
Ryan Ross (6:53:35 PM): i was actually really suprised you listened to it
Ryan Ross (6:53:40 PM): i didnt expect you to see it
Pete Wentz (6:54:00 PM): Is there some pics of you guys anywhere
Ryan Ross (6:55:10 PM): no, we are taking them pretty soon for the website, its just not done yet. i have some just of me on livejournal. but thats wierd haha
Pete Wentz (6:56:09 PM): Yeah fuck get some to me
Pete Wentz (6:56:19 PM): I think I may come see you in californaia
Ryan Ross (6:56:44 PM): really?
Ryan Ross (6:57:08 PM): that would be awesome
Pete Wentz (6:57:46 PM): I've been listeneing to those songs nonstop. Is the band a side thing or is it gonna be fulltime?
Ryan Ross (6:58:20 PM): no its full time
Ryan Ross (6:59:24 PM): well aside from school. which sucks
Ryan Ross (6:59:32 PM): but we want to do this
Pete Wentz (7:00:00 PM): When are those kids out of school
Ryan Ross (7:00:26 PM): the drummer and bass player are graduating early. so like january and other guitarist/singer graduates in the spring
Pete Wentz (7:01:16 PM): Nice
Pete Wentz (7:01:23 PM): Do you know about my label
Ryan Ross (7:01:46 PM): yeah i think i saw something a while ago on a journal entry, is gym class heroes the only band on it right now?
Pete Wentz (7:03:10 PM): Yeah. I signed the academy. But they are fbr strictly gym class and I am looking for another
Pete Wentz (7:03:33 PM): The cool thing about it is I just met with waner and they want both of the bands and to give me an imprint
Ryan Ross (7:03:55 PM): oh cool i like the academy alot, oh i see yea i was going to ask you about that
Pete Wentz (7:04:03 PM): Which pretty much means a lot more money to promote cool artists
Pete Wentz (7:04:14 PM): You guys plays out a lot?
Ryan Ross (7:04:39 PM): thats awesome man. actually no we just kind of started this thing up a few months ago, the show in victorville is going to be our first one
Pete Wentz (7:05:51 PM): Really
Pete Wentz (7:05:56 PM): Interesting
Pete Wentz (7:06:11 PM): How much do you guys practice
Ryan Ross (7:06:45 PM): we've been trying to figure out the best way to do this stuff live, and we've been having a hard time on figuring out how to make it sound good. depending on the place we might not be able to use all the electronic stuff that we want to do which sucks but alot of venues, at least here might have a hard time setting us up. we practice at least 4 times a week so like. between 24-30 hours a week
Pete Wentz (7:07:09 PM): Nice
Pete Wentz (7:07:21 PM): I am gonna come to the show
Ryan Ross (7:08:13 PM): we wish we could more often. but school is getting in the way. and it sucks cause parents think its a waste of time playing music and want me to focus on school. im sure you know how that is.
Ryan Ross (7:08:23 PM): thanks alot man really
Pete Wentz (7:08:55 PM): I do
Pete Wentz (7:09:05 PM): What are peoples reactions to it
Ryan Ross (7:10:04 PM): some good some bad. everyone is so into post hardcore stuff these days that some kids just brush it off. which is fine but then some kids like it cause its a little different i guess
Pete Wentz (7:11:30 PM): Can that kid sing live?
Ryan Ross (7:12:54 PM): yeah, he's been taking voice lessons for a little bit so thats starting to help him
Pete Wentz (7:13:19 PM): Is he on? I mean on here he sounds awesome
Ryan Ross (7:14:21 PM): yeah he's on pitch, we recorded that stuff with like a 100 dollar vocal mic. the only effects we used was pretty much reverb on the main parts.
Pete Wentz (7:14:42 PM): Yeah sounds good kind of like patrick
Pete Wentz (7:14:47 PM): I like it
Ryan Ross (7:16:57 PM): yeah thats the only thing we get that alot. and thats just how the kid sings. we like your band but we dont want to sound like you guys, or be compared to fob all the time you know? but yeah he is aware that kids say he sounds like patrick so he's just trying different vocal stuff sometimes.
Pete Wentz (7:19:06 PM): Here's the thing if I show you guys interest a lot of crappy labels are gonna come and do the same and I don't want a huge mess out there. I mean how interested are you guys in going fulltime when you can
Pete Wentz (7:19:19 PM): Yeah you'll get eh patrock thing but how many people. Sound like hime
Ryan Ross (7:19:47 PM): so you really think we've got potential then?
Pete Wentz (7:19:54 PM): I do
Ryan Ross (7:20:05 PM): i've wanted to play in a band for my job ever since i started high school at least.
Ryan Ross (7:20:07 PM): we all want to do this
Ryan Ross (7:21:05 PM): its like i cant put enough dedication into anything exept playing guitar and writing
Pete Wentz (7:23:01 PM): I'm with you
Ryan Ross (7:24:05 PM): but yeah. i cant see myself doing anything else but playing in a band, cause every job i've ever had ive hated it
Pete Wentz (7:24:57 PM): You don't have a picture of the band
Ryan Ross (7:25:44 PM): no, but if you need it i could have my buddy take some tomorrow at practice
Pete Wentz (7:26:58 PM): That would be rad
Ryan Ross (7:27:37 PM): okay we'll take some
Ryan Ross (7:28:08 PM): are you online much?
Pete Wentz (7:33:12 PM): Sometimes
Ryan Ross (7:33:35 PM): okay, i was just wondering if this was your email incase you arent on i'll just send them
Pete Wentz (7:34:17 PM): Yeah send it here for sure
Ryan Ross (7:34:36 PM): okay
Ryan Ross (7:34:55 PM): dude this better not be a joke, it better be you
Pete Wentz (7:35:12 PM): It is
Pete Wentz (7:35:34 PM): But there are a lot of fakers out there
Ryan Ross (7:35:55 PM): okay. yeah i know someone has shown me like fake journals of you and stuff. thats creepy
Ryan Ross (7:36:10 PM): thats why i asked if it was you for sure
Pete Wentz (7:36:32 PM): This guy who is iming me is your manager
Ryan Ross (7:37:03 PM): is it xxxtoughffxxx ?
Pete Wentz (7:37:22 PM): Yeah
Ryan Ross (7:37:38 PM): i dont know if he's our manager. he's our friend, he's been helping us out with a website, merch and the show in victorville
Ryan Ross (7:38:35 PM): he's starting a company up and he wants to help us out
Pete Wentz (7:43:04 PM): Ah I got t
Pete Wentz (7:43:32 PM): It
Pete Wentz (7:43:37 PM): You guys are awesome and if its what I think it is I want ti to be thenext academy
Ryan Ross (7:44:58 PM): wow thanks alot. i hope you like the stuff live, its not completely different but it is different. i mean the singing is the same and all that.
Pete Wentz (7:47:46 PM): cool
Pete Wentz (7:48:06 PM): You guys look good. The chicks gonna be swooning?
Ryan Ross (7:48:38 PM): once we get a keyboard player who can do all of the sampling we want to do it will be alot better too. its like we know how we want to sound, but just finding the right way to do it i guess is what we are working on.
Ryan Ross (7:48:40 PM): hahaha
Ryan Ross (7:48:51 PM): i dont know man, we look alright i guess
Ryan Ross (7:48:57 PM): we look young
Pete Wentz (7:49:42 PM): Youngs not abd at all
Pete Wentz (7:49:47 PM): How does the singiner look
Ryan Ross (7:50:05 PM): dead sexy.
Ryan Ross (7:50:41 PM): he's no pete wentz. but still
Pete Wentz (7:51:42 PM): Hahaha
Pete Wentz (7:51:54 PM): Goddamn as long as he looks cool.singing
Pete Wentz (7:52:14 PM): For sure send me pics and all how many songs you guys have?
Ryan Ross (7:52:39 PM): haha
Ryan Ross (7:53:00 PM): kk
Ryan Ross (7:53:54 PM): we've only got 4 right now, its been tough to write since school started and everyone's busier. and those are the first 4 songs we've written as a band. at the show we'll play those and a cover of new order maybe. or depeche mode. we dont know yet
Pete Wentz (7:56:08 PM): Nice
Pete Wentz (7:56:21 PM): I gotta run
Pete Wentz (7:56:32 PM): But ill hit you on here later
Pete Wentz (7:56:38 PM): Send me those pics and write the hits
Ryan Ross (7:56:43 PM): okay dude. good talking to you
Pete Wentz (7:56:43 PM): Peaaaaaace
Ryan Ross (7:56:44 PM): hahaha
Ryan Ross (7:56:47 PM): later man
Pete Wentz is away from the computer as of 7:56:51 PM.

DEAR MR. Butch Walker - I can't not love this guy. And the fact that he put out a fantastic new album and still puts on the best live show ever just seals the deal. Sycamore Meadows was my most anticipated album, the best album of the year for me (sorry Wentz) and my personal savior when things had gotten their worst.

2.) Voltaire - The original gothic renaissance man. The creepiest stop motion, the most kickass comic characters, and the funniest and the most thoughful lyrics I've ever heard. His new album is a great piece of work and he was hands down one of the coolest guys I met this year.

3.) Darren Lynn Bousman and Terrance Zdunich - Not musicians in the traditional sense, but they were part of my favorite movie of the year, Repo! The Genetic Opera. Never have I seen two men put so much heart into something they loved even when no one else did. And it came out wonderfully. Darren needs more projects like this and Terrance just needs to do more period.

4.) Bear McCreary - The shit he composes for Battlestar Galactica and The Sarah Connor Chronicles just blows my mind. Shirley Manson singing his arrangement 'Samson and Delilah' for SCC is seriously one of my favorite things ever.

5.) Love Like This - I love these guys for infinity. I'm so proud of what they've done and will continue to root for them. Plus, they are so much fun to be around. I've earned my 'I Partied With Love Like This' shirt.

Re: top fives of 2008

Top 5 Misunderstood People/Thangs (in no particular order)
1.) Perez Hilton
Okay, I'm not saying he's being famous or popular for legit, upstanding reasons. He's famous because he's mean but I don't like it when people hate him for that. I mean when you think about it, isn't he just part of the play, sort of? Like a narrator. If the media sets up this glamorous world for "average" people to obsess over, there has to be someone to play the uber bitch. He's just an actor; I doubt he goes to sleep thinking about how he's fulfilling his dreams by exposing Jennifer Aniston's secrets. If you don't like the media, just don't bother. Treat everyone like a human being, even if they seem like a diva over a computer screen.
2.) Rock Music/Entertainment
I think the hugest issue with a lot of musicians is that they don't know how to be entertainers. I want good music, but I get sick of seeing rock performers not knowing how to perform. You know the look that most rock musicians have, scruffy and dirty? It's not entertaining anymore. I don't want to see people emote wearing plain, boring clothes and Chuck Taylors; it's not satisfying to pay for a show or watch a music video and not be visually fulfilled. That's why I think rock music is struggling so much; most rock musicians can't grasp the fact that an audience appreciates drama. Have you ever watched a (typical) rock video right after you watch a popular hip hop video? Think about which genre provides more entertainment. Think about the ways they try to get you into the music. Speaking of which...
3.) Britney Spears
I know she's not a rock musician, but I think that she's tied into the #2. Britney Spears is an entertainer and a human being. First of all, she manages to entertain all of us with her daily life more than most music has recently. At least thank her for that. Second of all, she was hyper-sexualized at a pretty young age. Everyone always refuses to pity celebrities, but really, life sucks no matter WHO you are, so can't we feel a bit sorry for her? She's incredibly rich, but she's been tortured by the media. Just understand that if you were her, you'd probably hate life sometimes. If you were her, you'd probably get sick of everyone judging you and hating you without knowing you. If you were her, you'd probably want to go somewhere unrecognized for once....and besides, wasn't "Womanizer" amazing?
4.) Subversive-ness
It's not subversive to hate little kid pop musak anymore. Everyone hates little kid pop music. Like, all those Disney Channel stars' hit singles. Stop trying to be cool by hating Miley Cyrus. Everyone knows when music is calculated, stop pointing it out. No one is impressed. Ever. If you really want to be different, like it. And say so- right in front of your indie friends. Dare ya'. THAT takes balls.
5.) Technology
I think everyone is overwhelmed by technology. People have relationships online. I mean, the most intimate human interactions can be imitated over computers. We have devices that can tell you where to go and play you some music while you go there. You can find Facebook profiles of people you knew in the second grade, and their lives are summed up in neat little About Me's. But still- this year I've seen technology work wonders. I've heard about some truly great things organized through text message, watched everyone join politically aware online groups, and seen shy, reserved folks able to speak up for themselves over some newfangled device. There's always, always a bright side, even when you're confronted with monstrous, crazy forces introduced at high speed.

Re: top fives of 2008

Top 5 of Confused Moments this Year.

1. Spandex as pants.
2. Prop 8 the Musical...a wonder.
3. MINIATURE PRINGLES? why must all snack food be made as small as possible? we know where it all ends up.
4. the uprising of the Jonas Brothers. I don't hate, but I hear that they're already starring in a motion picture about a farting dog...? say it ain't so.
5. Labyrinth, that David Bowie movie. The entire thing, intro to credits.

Re: top fives of 2008

I'm a little late on this, but i wanted to put my top 5 list up.
top list of what? i'm not sure yet. but ill figure one out.

top 3 list of things that had an effect on me. [sorry its so short]
1. folie a deux- i really can't explain how much this album means to me, but it means a hell of a lot. from the first moment i heard it [i did not cheat and buy the songs early, or hear the leaked] it blew me away, i really havent listen to much else beside it since i got it. thank you fob. thank you fo everything
2. obama- in all of my life, which isnt very long, i know. but i was finally proud to be apart of the usa. i know thats sad, since i surrounded by people that have such pride in america. but i just dont, but now i have a little hope for america, and maybe one day i could be happy for what obama has done [im just crossing my fingers he does everything he said he would do, arent we all?]
3.the passing prop 8-being a part of the GBLT community, this really made me so mad. why should the government have a part of one person and another person marrying, regardless of sex. i protested, and did my best to get the word out about how these republicans are spreading lies. hopefully in 2009 obama and the courts will reverse this law.

Re: top fives of 2008

Patrick's fine the way he is. Anime Expo!!!!!!! (yes, I am a total nerd)

3. Kanye West's new album 808 and Heartbreaks- i really feel for the dude, you can tell he put his heart in the album and i liked that he tried singing for a change, that man is a genius

4. All the awesome movies that came out this year, especially the Dark Knight, normally I don't like superhero movies but that movie was great., kept my attention the whole time

5. I FINALLY have my keyboard, after months of begging I finally got one. (next goal acoustic guitar :]....I'm a music geek as well)

Re: top fives of 2008

here's my best and worst of 2008
took a while to think of but i think it's pretty dead on.

Best of 2008

1.George Bush's last year as presdient, it is definitely time for a change( and that change should have happened four years ago instead of putting him back in office) it's like hiring a monkey to run the country, actually the monkey probably would have been a better idea.

2. The fact Sarah Palin said 'You betcha' after everything or completely avoided answering a question by answering something else. (Tina Fey > Sarah Palin)

3. those youtube videos that will brighten your day like the hoodrat kid, paraodies of things (good ones, not the dumb ones that aren't funny), and other ridiculously random videos, yes i know i sound stupid but it can make me laugh so get over it.

4. snow days, i'm from the midwest, yet i do despise snow but if it gets me out of school i'm happy.

5. a continous chain of awesome albums coming out, it's like all the really good artists waited till 2008 to unleash the best cds ever. yet i still don't have enough money to buy the rest i want.

Worst of 2008

1. 'Shake It' by Metro Station. seriously? it is played every hour on a station and it makes me want to punch my ears, if the US is ever in need of a torture device, playing that song will work most definitely.

2. Guitar hero and Rock Band, for those kids who play on the expert level go pick up a real instrument and try to play it. quit sitting on your ass and do something productive.

3. During the holidays that Carson's commerical with the singing "Give Joy Give More Give More Give Joy" every single commerical break drove me crazy whoever wrote that song and the person who bought all the spots every commerical break please go jump down a well and never write another commerical again.

4. The fact anyone can cyber stalk you now, like add you and be like "Hey don't you remember me? I am your neighbor's sister's cousin's best friend? we met once." and expect you to add them. no i will not add you and put you on my top and be best friends forever, get over it. quit stalking me.

5.Idiotic Drivers, you know those people drive 10 under with their blinker on, who cut you off, or have no idea what they are doing get off the road, go take a driver's ed class and get out of my way.

6. Chain emails and texts, those anger me beyond belief the ones that are if you don't pass this on your mother will die at 11:11, or if you don't pass this on jesus doesn't love you, hey asshole it's 11:12 and my mom isn't dead go run into a wall. i wish you could block numbers because it is ridiculous!

7. the economy thanks to it my parents are freaking out not letting me buy things like cds and clothes, it's like the world is ending, reality check it's not.

Re: top fives of 2008

I'm late on adding to this because it was hard to summarise 2008. I think this is the final cut haha. Mine are mainly personal highlights/things that stand out from the year. It was a pretty hard year, but these things all made it so much better.

1) Finding a belief in love. I've always been a cynic, but this year changed that. I found someone that made me feel like everything that was bad in my life didn't matter. No matter how it ended I don't regret it at all. I fell in love with being in love.

2) My music tastes becoming increasingly diverse. This year I went from only listening to bands like Green Day, The Replacements, The Cure and Say Anything to so many new, truly talented artists. I still love the others, but being introduced to music such as Damien Rice (the album "O" is probably one of my favourites of all time), I Am The Avalanche (Not necessarily new, I know, but I was late on finding them and am so glad I did), Laura marling (such a great voice and honest lyrics) and I found my love for Joy division again.

3) I became a part of my local music scene. Most of these bands give me more faith in my generation than any mainstream/well known band ever could. I've heard some of the most honest words being screamed down a microphone in a soundproofed room in the back of a pub. I've met some of my best friends whilst screaming back the same words.

4) I spent a summer with my best friends.

5) I turned 16 in may. In England I can now buy a lottery ticket. Yay. I get to pick numbers, americans get to drive.

6) One tree hill season 5 aired. I know how sad that sounds but whatever, i love that show.

7) The US elections. I don't even live there and I felt the excitement for this. I'm so glad america made the right choice. Things are bad in the UK for a lot of people at the moment. Obama being elected is something which brings hope to us aswell.

8) Independent films. I became an addict for unknown cinema, aswell as the well known and slightly pretentious examples like Amelie and Garden State.

9) I started 6th form, studying English Literature and Language, Psychology, Photography and Film. The work load is killing me but I've never been so interested in school/college.

10) I went to South Africa and learnt more about the world than I ever could have from a classroom or any book or doccumentary.
